About Deskati.com
Some history
The first page of Deskati.com was published on February 1998. Back then the site was known as
"Deskati on the net" and was the first ever website dedicated to Deskati and probably
(considering how new the Internet still was) one of the first dedicated to a Greek village!
Our first attempt was hosted on Geocities (later taken over by Yahoo) and was sporting a URL
of http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/9802/index.htm. Not the easiest to remember but for a
first attempt it wasn't that bad ;-). On July 1999 we had shortened the URL to
http://come.to/deskati thanks to the redirection services of V3.com. The first major face lift came
on October 2000: we changed the look and feel, got hosted on freeservers.com (a less advert
intrusive service), added a discussion board and most importantly got our very own URL: http://deskati.com!
On February 2002 we started the process of updating our look and feel and looking for a new host.
The most important reason for this was to incorporate the ability of dynamic web pages through scripting
technology, the final aim being to introduce many new and interesting services for the Deskati.com
visitor :-) After alot of hard work the new site went live 2 years later on June 2004.
